This bit is optional, and I didn’t use one, but I would if I could do it again. These are made for temperature-control of smokers. They have a little thermometer, and temp controller, and they blow a variable amount of air onto charcoal in order to increase the temps. The presets are in the 300-400F range, which is low for pyrolysis, but you can just put the temp probe further up the stack until it maintains the temp you want. In the future I want to add open source control of this, but for now this is a ready-made solution.
